Can you hear, the thoughts of a dying man?
Mem'ries of love, of his family and friends.
His last thought, of a three year old.
Who'll never know her daddy
'Cause he went off to save the world
She'll be told, He was a hero
That he fought and died, for that was 'right'
She'll grown up and learn the truth
He never had to fight.
And he never had to die.
Is this what we want to teach our children?
To fight and kill, for being different.
A generation without fathers, of kids all alone
Do we have to harm others, to protect our own?
Can you hear, the thoughts of a lonely girl?
She fought her way through this big bad world.
She's come to see, her daddy's resting place.
A flowered field, some broken crosses
A battle long forgotten
He never had to fight
And he never had
To die
